12. Increased rates of marijuana use have resulted in a new health syndrome characterized by repeated episodes of nausea and vomiting.

A new clinical condition known as Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) has emerged with the increasing rates of marijuana abuse.  CHS is characterized by chronic cannabis use, repeating episodes of nausea and vomiting, and frequent hot bathing which temporarily stops nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.  The mechanism for this new syndrome is unknown.  CHS is described in more detail in this article published in Current Drug Abuse Reviews.
